Building and maintaining a garden railroad:
A delightful hobby that combines outdoor gardens with big, weather-resistant model trains built to run in all weather, even snow. Since many new garden (1:20 to 1:32 scale) trains became widely available and affordable in the 1980s, Garden Railroading has been attracting both ‘indoor’ model railroaders and those who have never owned an 'indoor’ train. Garden railroading is a delightful pastime especially suited for families, because everyone can enjoy participating -by creating the layout, running the trains, modeling structures, or tending the gardens. This presentation is not only for beginners looking for basic information on how to get started in this fascinating hobby; it also offers ideas on growing miniature veggies in very small plots of land, raised beds, and patio containers.  Presented by Dr. J. Christina Brittain.
Wild edibles:
A reprise of the popular presentation from last year's Food Forum on recognizing common wild edibles growing locally, by 30 year resident and weed-eater, Lori Loranger.
Getting the most out of your whole foods:
Local Naturopathic Doctor, Anna Wieman, will talk about how to get the most nutritional value out of your whole foods. She will discuss which foods hold the greatest sources of vitamins and minerals and the best ways to prepare them for you and your family.

We are also offering "mini" presentations in our indoor farmers' market  from 12:30 pm -- 2:30 pm:
